Balti Triangle (Birmingham)

United Kingdom / England / Birmingham
 region, invisible

Birmingham is world-famous for its 'Balti Triangle' in Sparkbrook, between Highgate and Moseley, just a few minutes from the City Centre.
The focus of the Balti dish remains predominantly within the Triangle, where it was first introduced to the region by Birmingham's large Pakistani and Kashmiri communities around 1976. There are around 50 balti houses in the 'Balti Triangle' - many of them famous for their giant 'table top' naans which can be used as a substitute for cutlery.
The word 'Balti' now appears in most dictionaries - it means 'bucket' but is in fact a flat bottomed wok.
