Residence designed c. 1934 in the Georgian Revival style by Delano & Aldrich for Clinton Hoadley Crane, Jr {naval architect, industrialist, capitalist}. Crane served as a partner in the Tams, Lemoine & Crane ship designing corporation, president and chairman of the board of St. Joseph Lead Co., and vice president of Missouri-Illinois Railroad Co. He also served as a member of the War Industries Board during the Wilson administration and wrote a book and numerous articles on yachting.

Under Crane's leadership, St. Joseph Lead Co. became the largest single producer of lead in the country. As such, he recieved the William Lawrence Saunders Medal of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers in 1958 for his contributions to the mining industry.
