ruined castle, fortification, listed building / architectural heritage, object of cultural heritage of federal importance (Russia)

At the 8th kilometer of Ritsa Road, up about 200 meters on the high wooded ledge of the left side of Bzyb River, you can see the remains of the Khasan-Abaa sentry fortress, built in the 9th-10th centuries. The 8-meter tower is surrounded by walls measuring a meter and a half thick. The four outer walls have remained in fairly good shape. The total area of the fortification is 90 square meters. The sentry fortress controlled the passages of the gorge. Historians suggest that signals may have been used to communicate between Bzyb Fortress and Khasan-Abaa Tower.

On the same side of the river, just a little further down, is the building of the hydroelectric power plant that used to supply water to the local settlements. You can get to the power plant and the Khasan-Abaa Tower by following a suspension bridge over the Bzyb River.
