A ruined and overgrown fortress in the Gradishteto (Gradišteto) locality north of Balgari Village (Bălgari). The fortress was in use during the Thracian, Roman, and Medieval periods. It was built with roughly hewn stones, in some places without mortar, in others with white mortar. Within the outer fortified perimeter was erected a later fortification, with a construction of stone, brick, and mortar. Early Ottoman registers indicate that the area was home to a sizable settlement in the Late Middle Ages. The main fortress was surrounded by smaller fortresses - at Marzovsko Kale (Mărzovsko Kale), Gramatikovo, and Pismenovo. A necropolis lay to its west, with some 20 burial mounds. The site was severely damaged in the 1970s.
