The primary electrical supplier for Georgia Tech is Georgia Power, owned by the Southern Company. Georgia Tech is the largest consumer of electricity in the Atlanta Area, using about 17,000,000 KWH per month. Georgia Tech owns and manages a large electrical substation, and most of its electrical power (85%) comes through this (main) substation, which has 32-megawatts of instantaneous capacity.

This is also the heating and cooling plant for a large portion of the campus. It provides steam and chilled water.
