Erma River Gorge is 100 m long and just 5 m wide in the most narrow part. On both sides rise the cliff walls of peak Zhilav Kamak (The Tough Rock) in south and Tsarkvishteto (The Church) in north. These 150 and 200 meters high cliffs are a popular challenge among rock climbers with over 10 blazed trails with varying in difficulty.

"Zhdreloto Na Reka Erma" (Erma River Gorge) and the area around it have been declared as a natural monument with Ordinance № 1803 from 26.07.1961 by the General Directorate of Forestry at the Council of Ministers.
