Fifth Avenue Tower

USA / New Jersey / West New York / Fifth Avenue, 445
 office building, skyscraper, condominium, 1986_construction

438-foot, 33-story mixed-use building completed in 1986. Designed by Emery Roth & Sons, it has a 2-story retail base, office space on floors 3-8, and 174 condominium units on the upper floors. The office and condominium component each has its own dedicated lobby, accessed through a landscaped plaza at the east end.

The base was remodeled in 2015, with a curtain wall of thin aluminum spandrels and green-tinted glass, and some storefronts installed at the ground floor.

The office section of the building, clad in a curtain wall of dark-tinted glass, darker glass spandrels and black metal mullions, rises to match the roof level of the neighboring library building to the north. The residential tower portion is set back on the south and west sides, and clad in a similar dark-colored curtain wall. The middle third of the south elevation is slightly further recessed than the ends, and the middle portion of the north facade is faced in dark-grey-painted concrete panels. There is a shallow setback on all four sides above the 31st floor, with a 2-story duplex rising up from the west end. A tall mechanical housing juts up from the north part of the main roof. The ground floor is occupied by Brickworks Design Studio, and a gift shop.
