The rock sanctuary near Voynovo is the northernmost of the five rock sanctuaries along the Taban River (Malak Kanagyol), forming a Thracian rock cult center dedicated to the Thraco-Getian god Zalmoxis. 3 km south of here is the central cave temple of Zalmoxis called "Badzhalia" near the village of Strelkovo. The remaining three sanctuaries are on the rocky banks of this dry river, about 1 km south opposite the village of Vasil Levski, 5 km south to the village of Pop Rusanovo and 7 km south to the village of Kutlovitsa, Silistra Province.
