dam, lock (water navigation)
Remains of a lock and dam completed on June 1, 1913, built by the federal government along with 36 additional locks and dams between 1902-1921 to make the Trinity River navigable from Dallas to Galveston Bay. Only 7 (numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 20, and 25) were started. All seven had been completed when the project was abandoned as too expensive following World War I.
