Built as an Albertsons (#2796) in 2002 as part of the Townshire redevelopment project, this store at 1901 South Texas Avenue seems to be not cut out for grocery use. The Albertsons closed in summer 2006 and after sitting vacant for a number of years (more than Albertsons was ever open), it reopened as a Walmart Neighborhood Market (#4126) on June 28, 2013. The Neighborhood Market also included a liquor store on the premises, not accessible from the main store due to state laws. The Walmart was less successful than the Albertsons, and in late January 2016, however, it closed as part of a wave of Walmart closures nationwide. Of the building's 15 years, it has spent about half of its lifetime vacant.
