First opened in 1971 as the Briarcrest Country Club, this golf course and events hall flipped hands to a new owner in 2013, and renamed in 2014, advertising itself as an events center with a golf course ("Phillips Event Center at Briarcrest"). In 2017 it was announced that the golf course would be donated to the city as the older Travis B. Bryan Municipal Golf Course would be redeveloped into a "superpark". Just two days after the closure of the old golf course, the Briarcrest golf course reopened as its current name.
