shopping mall

According to "College Station Roads and Retail", this was originally an enclosed mall called Manor East Mall from the early 1970s, anchored by Montgomery Ward and Britts (later a JCPenney), and later a Wal-Mart. But by 1998, all three had left. In the early 2000s, the mall was rebuilt into a strip mall. The north end was reconfigured into a strip mall (the corridors can still be seen from the sky), the Hastings was expanded, and much of the mall (plus the vacant Montgomery Ward) was demolished, being replaced with a large H-E-B. It replaced a smaller H-E-B Pantry (now Harmony Science Academy).
