Completed in August 2009, the Tekeze Hydroelectric Power Plant has a capacity of generating 300 MW. The Powerhouse is an underground structure containing 4x75 MW vertical Frances turbines. It's located about 400 meters (1312 feet) downstream from the dam, and on the right bank of the Tekze River, a tributary of the Nile River.
