The Tabaqah Dam (Arabic: سد الفرات) (sometimes called the Euphrates Dam) is an earth filled dam nearly 197 feet (60 m) high and 3 miles (5 km) long (located at 36°0′N 38°35′E) in Syria. It was completed in 1973 on the Euphrates River.
Turbines 8 x 103 MW Kaplan-type
Installed capacity 824 MW
Due to lower than expected water flow from Turkey, as well as lack of maintenance, the dam generates only 150 MW instead of 800 MW.
