Cory’s Riverside WtE plant is one of the largest operational waste-to-energy (WtE or EfW) facilities in the UK, can process up to 785,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste a year. In 2020, the plant producing 501 GWh of electricity, enough to power the equivalent of 155,000 homes.

In 2020, the development of a project for the construction of a second plant with a capacity of 650-805 thousand tons of waste per year began with transformation of the territory of the existing plant into a multifunctional "Riverside Energy Park". In May, 2021, Cory Riverside has been awarded £12.1 million (€14 million) through the UK Government’s Heat Networks Investment Project (HNIP) for a major district heating project of the development of one of the UK’s largest heat networks, delivered by Vattenfall, to supply low-carbon heat to 21,000 homes - 10,500 houses of each the existing and the new projected plant.
