Port in the north of France with a population of 70,000 most famous for being the closest French town to Great Britain (about 21km). For several centuries after the Hundred Years War it was under control of England until it was taken back by France during the reign of Mary I. It is linked to the English port of Dover by a busy ferry service.

  • The city is like in a constant state of siege, a siege more powerful than during 100 years war. Immigrants from almost every third world country live in the forests around Calais trying to embark on buses, trains, cars, trucks, ferries, almost whatever vehicle available to get to the UK.
