The London Borough of Newham is one of the 32 London Borough Councils and was formed by merging the boroughs of West Ham and East Ham together with some extra places to the south. 'Newham' was coined as a name for it in 1965.

The area has a high young population and a big mixture of ethnic diversities, with a third of the locals being White, a third being Asian and most of the remaining population being Black. The council are based in East Ham, and the Olympics will be held in Stratford in 2012.

  • Please check the northern border, as I haven't checked to see if it's correct.
  • With any luck I have remapped the borders to more accurately reflect their real life locations. Newham is unique in that 3 sides of its borders are rivers, this reflects the boroughs maritime heritage. Despite the death of the royal docks, The Thames, The Lea and The Roding are still used for water bourne deliveries. Even The olympic site at Stratford is using the rivers to the west for delivering to the site.
  • Northern border is not correct, should move a bit north, also, north west is not correct but I am confused, whether it should go in or out, This are was part of Essex and after 1964 it was added to London under new borough West Ham. thanks arif
