"19th Century Urban Everyday Life" House Museum (Stara Zagora)

Bulgaria / Stara Zagora / Stara Zagora / Dimitar Naumov Street, 68
1883_construction, historic house museum, ethnographic museum

The period between the Liberation and the end of WWII is one of the most interesting periods in the development of the Bulgarian nation-state. An entirely new model for the country was developed; ideas were brewing; wars, revolts and governments succeeded each other. The common people kept looking for their place in society during these tumultuous but interesting times, and they kept building the foundations of modern Bulgaria.
The house of the Hadzhiangelov family tells the personal story of Bulgarians and how they faced the challenges of the new world. It was built in 1883 and it houses a multitude of items dating from the end of the 19th century up until the beginning of the 1960s.
The building was renovated in 2021.
