Kliment Timiryazev (Russian: Климент Тимирязев) (1843-1920) was a Russian botanist, physiologist who lived in apartment 29 from 1899 until his death in 1920. The apartment was maintained by his wife and then his son until 1942 when it became a museum.

This house museum is a unique situation in that the apartment was preserved in the form in which it was during his life. The visitors to Timiryazev during his life included such notable people as Leo Tolstoy, Maxim Gorky, I. Levitan, V. Polenov, Pavlov, brothers Beketovs, Taneyev, Knebel, etc.

The museum is open daily except Sunday and Monday from 10:00 until 18:00. Admission is free and visits must be prearranged. Tel.: (495) 695-80-64

The building was part of a complex of for-profit apartment buildings constructed for Count Sheremetov between 1877 and 1902 by the architects Serebryakov and A. F. Meisner
