Central Administrative Okrug.
It is formed on July 10, 1991. One of 12 administrative okrugs of a city of Moscow, is located in city center and includes 10 districts: Arbat, Basmanny, Zamoskvorechye, Krasnoselsky, Meshchansky, Presnensky, Tagansky, Tverskoy, Khamovniki and Yakimanka. In okrug there are many theaters, almost all Moscow stations, the majority of the ministries of the Russian Federation, and also the Kremlin, the House of the government of the Russian Federation, the State Duma, the Federation Council are located. The considerable part of territory of okrug is occupied with various office buildings. Okrug borders almost coincide with city line of Moscow till 1912 (except for areas Sokolniki and Dorogomilovo). The area of 66,176 square km, the population (2010) 696 563 people (6,6 % of the population of Moscow).
