200 Eleventh Avenue

USA / New Jersey / Weehawken / Eleventh Avenue, 200
 condominium, interesting place, Modern (architecture)

267-foot, 19-story modernist residential building completed in 2010. Designed by Selldorf Architects and Steven Kratchman, the interesting facade makes use of glass, stainless steel, concrete and terra-cotta. The 3-story base is clad in copper-tinted terra-cotta panels, angled slightly outward at each pier, with shallow segmental-arches at the ground floor. Set back from the base on the west side, the tower rises straight up, clad in shiny stainless steel with wavy bands of silver steel or more reserved black horizontal bands delineating alternating floors. The south facade is grey concrete, broken at the 14th floor by balconies or window grids at the eastern half of the wall. The eastern facade is similarly constructed, but with a row of windows filling its entire left half. The steel and glass design from the west facade is repeated on the north facade, which sprouts forward from the concrete eastern facade.

The building's most interesting feature is its "Sky Garage", as 14 of that 16 units have their own garage attached to the condominium, serviced by an automobile elevator, accessed from 24th Street.
