Six Story was constructed in 1905 under the project of architect S. Treiman. The architect tried to decorate the flat facade of the building by means of modelled projections.

In 1905 edition of the Bolshevist newspaper "Forward" here was located. In 1909 there was a publishing house "Link" where V.I. Lenin's manuscript "Materialism and Empiriocriticism" was transferred for preparation for printing.

After revolution of 1917 there was the Bookstore of writers founded by M.A. Osorgin, N.A. Berdjaev, B.K. Zajtsev, V.F.Khodasevich, etc.
