Designed c. 1935 by McKim, Mead & White in the Art Deco/Neoclassical style. Its interior is decorated with medallions depicting the history of transportation and chandeliers with zodiac symbols by E.F. Caldwell. Connections include Amtrak, PATH, Newark Light Rail (formerly Newark City Subway), New Jersey Transit Rail, New Jersey Transit Bus, and Greyhound/Peter Pan bus.

It underwent an extensive restoration and renovation by Beyer Binder Belle in 2007.
