This was once the New York, Westchester & Boston Railway's Main Line, a subsidiary of the New York, New haven & Hartford Railroad. It ran from New York Connecting Railroad (jointly owned by the the NYNH&H and the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) (now part of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor)) through The Bronx and Westchester county, eventually rejoining the New Haven's Main Line and terminating at Port Chester.

The line was constructed in 1912 and was electrified with 11kV 25Hz AC overhead catenary identical to the New Haven's electrification system. When the NYNH&H Railroad went into bankruptcy, so did the NYW&B. The line was shut down and abandoned in 1937; the steel rails and catenary supports were removed and recycled for the war effort during World War II.

Part of the right-of-way remains intact as part of the New York City subway system.
