Possible Islamic administrative centre

Abbasid historians such as al-Baladhuri and al-Ya`qubi record Jarash as one of nine administrative centres in the Jund al-Urdunn area. It is thought that near to an important mosque discovered in 2002, was located the administrative center of the islamic Jerash. Its limits are unknown, apart from east side of the complex.
