Ruppin Lake is a sprawling inland waterway in Ostprignitz-Ruppin in Brandenburg. The lake is 14 km long, 230 m to 800 m wide and has an area of about 8.25 km. It is traversed from north to south by the River Rhine.
The southern end of the lake is bordered by a nature reserve (not marked). Grassland, deciduous forests, nutrient-rich waters, large areas of siltation, fens, and swamps characterize this sanctuary. Reed beds and wetlands provide habitat for numerous bird species. In addition, it is an important migration resting area for thousands of northern geese.
