tunnel, pedestrian area, interesting place, invisible
The National Gallery of Art Concourse Tunnel provides pedestrian connection between the West- and the East Buildings. The space is enhanced visually with window views of the plaza's sunken fountain's cascading waters and also with a metal-tube people-mover conveyor. The latter has recently been embellished with a light-show sculptural treatment called Multiverse by Artist Leo Villareal. Adjunct enterprises like cafes, bookstores, and gift shops, line the Concourse Tunnel. Offices, restrooms, and an auditorium are also present.
