The West Potomac Park is a U.S. national park in Washington, D.C., established in the late 1800s adjacent to the National Mall. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as a historic district. Improvements and additional site work were carried out in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA). These were both New Deal agencies initiated during the Great Depression to provide work for unemployed men struggling to find jobs.
