Estate home built c. 1913 for Dr. Eugene Hillhouse Pool {surgeon}. Pool served as a professor of clinical surgery at Cornell University Medical Center and was an author of numerous papers regarding spleen surgery. He also wrote "Surgery at the New York Hospital One Hundred Years Ago" with Dr. Frank McGowan in 1929. His wife first married William Averell Harriman and then Stanley Mortimer after divorcing Pool.

In 1949, the estate was purchased by Mme. Madame Chiang Kai-shek, the First Lady of Nationalist China's brother in law Hsiang-hsi Kung and they renamed it "Hillcrest". Madame Chiang Kai-shek summered at the home 1975 to 1993. In 1998, Kung's decendants sold the estate for approximately $3m to Irwin Stillman who sold the house on twelve acres with a separate parcel for the farm complex.
