Founded in 1891, the present First Baptist Church building opened in April 1912. Just two months later on June 30, the dome of the church was torn off by the infamous Regina Cyclone (tornado). The building was repaired and the church has continued to operate to the present day. A major restoration project in the early 1990s renewed the church's beauty including the removal and re-leading of 60 stained glass windows. First Baptist Church was designated as a Municipal Heritage Property in 1992.
