city, border
The city of Lloydminster is unique in that it straddles both sides of the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. Unlike most such cases, Lloydminster is not a pair of twin cities on opposite sides of a border which merely share the same name, but is actually incorporated as a single city with a single municipal administration. This results in some rather odd and confusing mixtures of provincial jurisdiction. Almost all the new development in the city has been on the Alberta side of the border, thus most people refer to the entire city as "Lloydminster, Alberta". Population (2011): 27,804.
