La Casita (Centre Island, New York)

For over half a century "La Casita" was home to the family of Daniel Bacon and his wife Margaret White Bacon. Bacon, like his father and grandfather before him, had been President of the West India Steamship Company, and had been the US Representative of the Elder Dempster Company of Liverpool. An avid Yachtsman, Bacon was an early member and past Commodore of the Seawanhaka Cornthian Yacht Club. His yacht, the Avenger, won the 1911 Astor Cup off of Newport. While the entry facade appears the same, extensive renovations more than doubled the size of the house in the late 2000's.
