This mall was once a key part of the commercially booming southwest area. However, growth began to continue in other sections of the city; major stores, such as JCPenney, Montgomery Ward, and Dillard's began to move out; and the mall fell into decline. Now the only tenants left over from the mall are Burlington Coat Factory and Stage. However, Summer Grove Baptist Church has acquired most of the property in an attempt to reverse the increasing crime and other negative effects created.
