Being a place of historical interest, this area of the island is called Buroburir Tat. Here are ruins of the ancient Temple (Deul Pattern )of late Sen Dynesty of Bengal.According to Pandit Haraprasad Sastri, one of the same kind of Minar/Temple is still situated at Kankandighi (to the east of Raidighi on the other side of the River Moni, which is near about 20 meters in height with a basement of nearly 25 sq. meters. But here it is no more ,instead ,on the basement of the relics, there is a Sivamandir. Here one can see many ancient sculptures of stone and/or clay models of different gods and goddesses, clay pots of different historical times, preserved and collected carefully in the nearby school and some carelessly in different houses of the locality. In the other part of the Island near new Bakkhali, as local people say , there are collections of skeletons of different animals which were found here during digging of ponds.
From Kolkata one can come to Namkhana by train boarding from Sealdah South/Diamond Harbour Section with about 3 and 1/2 hrs. journey or by bus from Esplanade,(taking near about 4 hrs.),followed by Bhatbhati/motorboats from Namkhana at 2.00 P.M.(just once a day),and it will reach you to Tater Bazar nearly at 4.30 P.M.
