Jean Nouvel Vision Machine Condominium

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Eleventh Avenue, 100
 condominium, high-rise, 2010_construction

250-foot, 21-story conceptual-modern residential building completed in 2010 for West Chelsea Development Partners/Craig Wood and Curtis Bashaw. Designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, it has a distinctive mosaic window treatment - a gently curving, glittering mosaic of nearly 1,700 different-sized panes of colorless glass, each set at a unique angle and torque, within a metal framework. The building also features a radical innovation at its base, where Nouvel has placed an additional 7-story street wall of mullioned glass 15 feet from the building’s façade, creating a semi-enclosed atrium. Within the atrium, suspended gardens of ornamental vegetation and trees will appear to float in mid-air; and private indoor and outdoor terraces will extend from residences.

Contrasting to the mosaic of glass and steel on the south and west facades, the north and east faces are clad in black brick with a pattern of different-sized punched windows.

Vision Machine contains 72 condominium units.
