HUDSON was one of the original towers built in 1911 for the Pennsylvania Station project. HUDSON, originally one of a pair of towers named R and S, controlled the eastern end of the Manhattan Transfer station where the power change between steam and electric was carried out. Originally the division point between the original main line to the Exchange Place Terminal and the new main line to NY Penn Station. HUDSON tower closed in 2003 and control was transferred to a panel at DOCK.

Connection to the NJ Transit Morris & Essex Mainline (Waterfront Connection), Newark layover yard, as well as national rail network connection to PATH shop complex. Beginning of Rule 562 cab-signal operation between here and the North River Tunnels.
