The massive fortress stands on a rocky promontory above the pond. The fortress consists of five-storey residential tower of red Koumimsk sandstone. Persisted several gothic windows and bricked up entrance portal in the 1st floor, combined rectangular windows and roof come from the Baroque reconstruction. Late Gothic fortress was surrounded by walls, from which the preserved remains of parkan wall.
The oldest mention of the fort are from the 1303rd. In 1421 the fort was besieged by Hussite soldiers and 19th November surrendered. On 7th July 1424 the famous battle of Malesov between Zizka´s soldiers and Praguers was stroken here.
Fortess was owned in 1307 by a rich Kutna Hora townsman family of Rudhard and later several owners changed here. During the 19th century it lapsed to the possesion of Austrian Emeperor Court. Past 1945 it was partly devastated and not until last years some reparations were made here.
