Significant Czech historical monument. A fort was inhabited already in prehistoric times. The earliest evidence of settlement are dating the Middle Bronze Age. First Slavic fortification was built on the remnants of a prehistoric fortification in the 9th century AD. It was a major seat of the first Czech princes Premyslids and the first Christian School, associated with the legend of Duke Krok, Princess Libuse, Premysl the Ploughman and St. Wenceslas. Preserved fortifications consists of two main circuits. Inner Oval Acropolis is the highest point of the terrain, with an area of over 3 ha. The ramparts of acropolis have a circumference about 700 m. External borders of the fort comprises the triangular forecastle of over 19 ha from the north. Fortificationś bailey reaches a length of approximately 1.5 km.
