SEPTA/PATCO 8th and Market Station (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

USA / New Jersey / Camden / Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), metro station

8th and Market is a subterranean mass transit station servicing three separate rail lines. It also provides an interior connection between the Mellon Independence Center and Gallery at Market East shopping mall.

SEPTA's Market-Frankford (Blue) Subway Line stops here; this particular segment of the complex underwent a renovation in 2007-2008, resulting in a brighter-lit and handicap accessible station. It is one of two stops on the line (the other being 11th Street, one station west) that provides access to the Gallery at Market East Shopping Mall.

Additionally, SEPTA's Broad-Ridge Spur has a terminus at the station. Riders boarding here are able to access the main portion of the Broad Street (Orange) Subway line via an arm running parallel to Ridge Avenue.

Finally, PATCO, the Delaware River Port Authority's high-speed rail line linking center city Philadelphia with select points in southern New Jersey, stops here. It is the rail line's easternmost stop in Pennsylvania; from here, eastbound trains exit the city and head into New Jersey via the Ben Franklin Bridge.
