Primarily residential working class neighborhoods. This diverse area is home to Temple University. North Philly also has the distinction of being the most dangerous and poverty stricken area in the city. Many of the neighborhoods have problems with violence and drugs. North Philly started to decline in the 1960s when jobs fled the area. The area is made up of row houses, small apartment buildings, vacant lots, and housing projects.
