Streamline Moderne (architecture), Art Deco (architecture), commercial building
5-story mercantile building originally completed in the 1920s for Alexander Samuel Beck to house one of his shoe stores. The Art-Deco style exterior reportedly designed c. 1955 by Harry L. Alper is clad in grey stone tiles above the ground-floor storefront. At the top floor there is gold Art-Deco ornament, including large letters spelling "A.S. BECK".
The shoe store closed in 1982 and was replaced by a liquor store, although the name at the top remained.
