 restaurant, apartment building

3-story mixed-use building originally completed as a pair of matching houses in 1890. They have been combined into an apartment building, with the former parlor floor and basement level at the south structure rebuilt into a ground-level first floor, separated from the earlier basement-level commercial space at the north structure by the main entrance. It is slightly recessed atop a narrow stoop, with a black wood, glass, and wrought-iron door in a black wooden surround with paneled pilasters and a short transom. The basement commercial space to the left is down a set of steps, and has a plate-glass show-window and a glass door. The main entrance to the commercial space is in the larger ground-floor storefront to the right, which has a large plate-glass window and glass door. Both commercial spaces are faced in stone and painted beige. To the left of the main residential entrance are two single-windows, and the upper floors have six bays of single-windows (three per original house).

The ground floor on the south facade has two smaller, square plate-glass windows, and then a projecting staircase facing east (with a small window at the ground floor) up to a 2nd-floor doorway topped by a panel of glass blocks. There are two small single-windows to the left, and the 3rd floor had three small single-windows, but the middle one has been bricked-in.

A 2-story rear extension continues behind the staircase, with another door and wide window at the ground floor. The 2nd floor of the rear extension has three single-windows, and there is a roof deck with a wooden fence on top. The ground floor/basement spaces are occupied by Saravanaa Bhavan, an Indian restaurant chain from Chennai.
