railway, tunnel, abandoned / shut down

A former tunnel on the Chicago and North Western Railway. During the early 1970s a partial cave-in closed the tunnel, and the C&NW began using the Milwaukee Road tunnel just to the south of this one. The C&NW is now part of Union Pacific, and their freight trains continue to run through the Milwaukee Road tunnel, now part of Canadian Pacific.
