Rochester is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota and is the county seat of Olmsted County. Located on both banks of the Zumbro River, the city has a population of 106,769 according to the 2010 United States Census. It is Minnesota's third-largest city and the largest city located outside of the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rochester is most famous as the home of the world-renowned Mayo Clinic medical campus.

The city was platted in 1854, and incorporated in 1858. It served several rail lines, including the Winona and St. Peter. A post office was established in 1855.
