Built in 1906, with the tower added in 1923. This was the home of the Oakland Tribune newspaper from 1924-1989 and 1999-2007. The building was damaged in the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, forcing the newspaper to leave until renovations were completed in 1999. The Tribune is now based over by the Oakland Airport, but its name remains on the building and the tower.

  • The Oakland Tribune newspaper is no longer headquartered in this building, in 2012 the newspaper moved to 1970 Broadway in downtown Oakland.
