Opened in 1912 as the Pantages Theatre. Later in its history is was renamed Lurie, Hippodrome, Premier, Downtown 8 and LYO. The shell of the theater was remodeled in the late 1940s to house the Oakland Tribune printing presses. It is currently housing.
