The building was constructed for Dr. Abraham Quisling and his four brothers. Lawrence Monberg was the architect who design the building in Arte Moderne style. It was the first apartment building in Madison after the Depression. The exterior is of buff-gray brick, Bedford limestone and terra cotta. In 1993, it was designated a landmark by the Madison Landmarks Commission.
