Residence designed c. 1938 in the Contemporary/International style by Edward Durrell Stone on originally 74 acres of land for Anson Conger Goodyear, Sr {capitalist, financier, industrialist}. Goodyear served as president of Goodyear Lumber, Great Southern Timber, Bogalusa Turpentine Co., Bogalusa Paper Co., and New Orleans Great Southern Railroad He also served as vice president of Buffalo & Susquehanna Railroad and director of Marine National Bank and Paramount Pictures.
The groundbreaking single story, flat-roofed home was built by the Murphy-Brinkworth Construction Corp. Back in the day, the original pedestal table of the grandiose yet intimate dining room retracted into the floor for dance parties. It also featured a mural by Pierre Bourdelle in the entry courtyard.
The residence was subsequently owned by the New York Institute of Technology where it was used as the president's house. In 1997, the university sold the estate which was subdivided for a housing development while retaining the main residence. The home is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Recent renovations were made by Steven Harris Architects in 2016 for Aby Rosen which brought in 'Gazelle' chairs by Dan Johnson.
