Seven km north of the real Carinhall of Herrmann Göring there was an exact dummy installation which served as a Potemkin village. This bogus Carinhall was at the height of the small town Ahlimbsmühle, west of Lübelow lake and the Libbesicke lake.
With the help of wooden scaffolding, planks, canvas, camouflage nets and color, this site was so deceptively copied, that a very close approach to the building was necessary to recognize that there were only dummies. Everything was prepared to fool airaids and to suggest all sorts of associations even at night to convey the impression that they had Görings country residence in the seekers of their target devices.
Smaller units stationed at pseudo-Carinhall had the order to set appropriate alarm and with the help of pyrotechnics and light effects to create the impression that the pilots had the real Waldhof in sight. Units of the Air Force with guns and flak-strong search lights were also in position in case of an attack and in order to complete the deception.
