Medina College is a large and thriving 11 – 19 college in the centre of Newport on the Isle of Wight. There are approximately 1550 students on role although 300 of these are based at our VIthForm campus approximately 1.5 miles away. This VIth form is shared with Carisbrooke College, our federation partner.

Students come to Medina from across the island and we have close links with our feeder schools. We run a number of initiatives throughout the year to directly engage primary school children with subjects such as arts, sciences and technology. From July 2012, Year Five and Six children come for taster days to experience life at Medina College, preparing the for the transition to secondary school. One of our priorities is to strengthen the curricular, pastoral and extra-curricular links with our local primaries.

Medina has been at the heart of education on the island for 30 years and the programme to continually drive improvements has seen students achieving unprecedented success in their GCSEs. In 2011, 85% of students left with five or more A* - C grades. We will be building on these excellent results to ensure future students continue to benefit from the excellent teaching and learning Medina College provides.

As a specialist arts college, Medina has outstanding arts facilities and offers a multitude of opportunities in this discipline. We have achieved the nationally recognised Arts Mark Gold status and have recently been awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award in recognition of our work with parents to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
